Why all the acronyms in ECE? They
are A Contrived Reduction Of Nomenclature
Yielding Mnemonics. Annoying Cryptic References Or Names You Make… Each state has
their own list of acronyms and each division of childcare services has their
own as well. There’s ACF, CAPTA, CPS, DHS, and WIC. There’s the ASQ, DAP, and for
teachers there’s the CCPC. You have your FEIN, the PDAS, and CC’s or CDC’s with
HQT’s are recommended by the NAEYC. There’s
the ADA with the IDEA for the ECSE. They’ve got their EIP’s, IEP’s, IFSP’s, and
the LRE’s. We’ve got OT and PT, AT and SLP’s for kids with ADHD, ASD, and CP. There’s
much more but I won’t go on it’s become a bore. We all know that A Completely
Random Order Never Yields Meaning, and A Clever Re-Organization Nudges Your Memory. So that’s why
all the acronyms, folks, that’s why.
